Review

I can't mention it enough. Reviewing albums makes 'the world go
round' . Getting to know artists that want their 'baby' to be
reviewed on www.jazzandsoul.eu just makes my heart jump.
Nevertheless, as an independent wesbite we're obliged to listen
to these works as objective as possible and while this sometimes
is quite difficult, I'm stunned again every day when I notice the
amount of quality music released while our charts are chock -
full with crap.
Another one of those great albums to arrive at Jazzandsoul HQ,
is the self - titled debut CD of Honey Brown. ...

If someone asks me, "what was the best live concert you've ever attended?", I'd have to go for D'Angelo
at the 2000 North Sea Jazz Festival (The Hague).
At that point I had seen quite some nu - soul performers and often these shows were fine but ... that's
all ... they were fine.
I guess, that also was my expectation when the MC announced D ... the lights went out and D'Angelo
and a 9 or 10 piece band (my memories lets me down here) climbed the stage.
I even think a lot of the 1000's of people present had somewhat the same feeling I did.
About five minutes later, something very different was going on. People were shouting, screaming,
wiggling and dancing to something that, even now, eight years later, I have difficulties with to describe.
Can a concert be perfect?  Yes, after that evening it could.
D'Angelo delivered a soul powercloud, a masterclass mixture of funk, hiphop and soul that lifted the
audience to orgasmic heights.

Hi Jazzandsoulers,

From today we've also added some videos to our content.

We've always received a lot of questions from our visitors about when we would add music and video.

Our deckplayer should be fixed this month and awaiting this, we created a video spot on the site.

At the moment 3 videos are online as a test :

- D'Angelo : Me and those dreamin' eyes of Mine

- Maya Azucena - Set you Free

- Eclectik Soul - Introduction video

Let us know what you think about the pages so we can start adding tons of videos in the future.

Rising from Oakland's vibrant underground, FEMI celebrates a trio of life
forces on her debut EP, "Sweet Water Soul." It has love, the gift of prayer,
and is fluid like water, which is the underlying theme of the EP. Here at
www.jazzandsoul.eu we received an advance preview of Femi's debut.
The full review will be online soon, but here you can already read what
Femi's Sweet water Soul is all about.
